Cellist Nicolas Altstaedt to substitute Sol Gabetta in the 25 March concert in Ferrara

The European Union Youth Orchestra and Ferrara Musica announce the replacement of solo cellist Sol Gabetta with Nicolas Altstaedt in the concert on 25 March at the Teatro Comunale Claudio Abbado in Ferrara. Sol Gabetta regrets very much that as a result of an injury to her left hand, she has been forced to cancel all upcoming commitments. We are however delighted that Nicolas Altstaedt, one of the most sought after and versatile artists today, will take her place, performing the same repertoire as had been previously programmed, the Mieczysław Weinberg Cello Concerto.

The programme, conducted by Elim Chan, therefore remains unchanged, with the Italian première of Anna Clyne’s This Midnight Hour, Weinberg’s Cello Concerto and Sergei Rachmaninoff’s Symphonic Dances. The March 25 concert is the first of the EUYO’s Peace in Europe series, and is also dedicated to the memory of David Sassoli, President of the EU Parliament and EUYO Honorary President.

The EUYO and Ferrara Musica apologise for any inconvenience caused by this change.
