EUYO Alumnus Thomas Søndergård appointed Music Director of the RSNO

27/05/2017 - Exciting news for the Royal Scottish National Orchestra this week as it is announced that Danish conductor Thomas Søndergårrd is to become Music Director of the RSNO. Currently Principal Conductor of BBC National Orchestra of Wales (BBCNOW) and Principal Guest Conductor of the Royal Scottish National Orchestra, the EUYO Alumnus will take on the role at the start of the 2018:19 season, succeeding current Music Director Peter Oundjian. Thomas, who was a timpanist in the EUYO from 1989 to 1992, will have an initial contract with the RSNO until 2021. 

Thomas is undoubtedly an inspiration to our players and we would like to wish him all the best in this exciting new role.
