03/06/2022 - The EUYO is bringing young people closer to classical music this June as part of Italy Sounds Classic, an initiative which aims to offer young musicians studying in Conservatories and Higher Institutes for musical training of the Emilia-Romagna region in Italy an occasion to meet, connect, learn and also create opportunities for their personal growth, kickstarting their careers as professional musicians.
The event, organized by Bologna Congressi, a company of the BolognaFiere spa group, with the contribution of the Bologna Chamber of Commerce, will take place from Thursday 9 to Saturday 11 June at the Volvo Congress Center in Piazza Costituzione in Bologna, Italy.
Italy Sounds Classic is also part of the calendar of events of the European Year of Youth, and the European Union Youth Orchestra is happy to be a part of this initiative that embraces our goal of helping young musicians hone their skills.
10 JUNE | 14.00 CET | Italy Room – Workshop: how to prepare for an audition?
A workshop led by Andrea Obiso, leader at the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, and Peter Stark, Rehearsal Director of EUYO, to help young musicians understand common errors and share good practice, to increase their chances of winning an audition.
10 JUNE | 21.00 CET | Europa auditorium – Ensemble of the European Union Youth Orchestra
A concert with an EUYO brass and percussion ensemble featuring an astonishingly varied programme ranging from Renaissance and early baroque composers such as Claudio Monteverdi, Tylman Susato and William Byrd to contemporary musicians such as Aaron Copland and Steve Reich, from classical masterpieces such as Giuseppe Verdi’s overture from Nabucco and Anton Bruckner’s motet Locus Iste, to popular hits such as the Brazilian Tico-Tico and The Carnival of Venice. Great musical versatility inspiring the next generation of musicians.
11 JUNE | 10.00 CET | Italy Room – Workshop: Radio and Classical Music on Rai Radio 3
A discussion led by Maria Gabriella Ceracchi, Head of RAI Radio3 Classica and EUYO National Partner for Italy, to help musicians understand the link between music and radio.
