Rebecca Thies started to play the violin at the age of 6. After studying with Emily Körner for several years, she changed to Prof. Christine Busch at the music academy in Stuttgart.
She won first prizes at the competition „Jugend musiziert“, as well as special prizes at „WESPE“ and the „Hans and Eugenia Jütting foundation“. During this time she already gained lots of orchestral experience in several german youth orchestras.
Numerous masterclasses with Christine Busch, Heime Müller, Isabelle van Keulen, Mi-kyung Lee and Nora Chastain had a formative influence on her musical career, so she continued her bachelor studies in 2015 with Prof. Nora Chastain at the university of arts in Zürich and later her masters in 2019 at the university of arts in Berlin. Lots of engagements as soloist and chamber musician led her to different European cities, as well as to the USA, to Canada, China and Japan.
In the last years she focused more and more on projects looking for alternative performative concepts, especially on combining music with theatre or rather performing arts. She is playing a violin by C.F. Landolfi provided by the „Landessammlung Streichinstrumente Baden-Württemberg“.
