Paula Mengel is a German violist currently studying with Professor Wolfgang Erich Krüger and Professor Ditte Leser at the Hochschule für Musik “Franz Liszt” Weimar.
During her studies she did an Erasmus in London at the Royal Academy of Music studying with Professor Martin Outram.
In addition, she received further training from Professors Pauline Sachse, Barbara Westphal and Hartmut Rhode, and also had the opportunity to study historical performance with Professor Midori Seiler.
Since 2020 she has been a scholarship holder of the Deutschlandstipendium.
Paula began playing in orchestra as a child in the Deutsche Streicherphilharmonie. After these first experiences she was a substitute violist in the Staatskapelle Weimar since 2018, and is a member of the ensemble reflektor. She participated twice in the Academy of the Mahler Chamber Orchestra and once in the Academy of the Irish Chamber Orchestra.
In September Paula will begin the Mendelssohn Academy of the Gewandhausorchester in Leipzig.
