Sofía Gómez Alberto
Sofía Gómez Alberto is a Spanish violinist and violist currently studying with Lutsia Ibragimova and Yuri Zhislin at the Royal College of Music in London.
Passionate about chamber music, Sofía regularly plays with various ensembles. In 2017, she participated in the Musethica Mastering Performance programme under Avri Levitan and since September 2017, she collaborates regularly with the pianist Arthur Di Francesco, performing a wide range of repertoire around the UK and in Spain. Sofía has also participated in many summer festivals such as the Daroca International Festival of Ancient Music, Pärnu Music Festival and the International Mendelssohn Festival and received lessons and masterclasses from Mari Tampere-Bezrodny, Tanja Becker-Bender and Alina Ibragimova among others. In early 2021, Sofía joined the JONDE and the EUYO.
Sofía began her studies in Zaragoza (Spain) with Valeri Gazarian. Between 2007 and 2013, she lived in Casablanca (Morocco), where she won First Prize in the National Violin Competition in 2008, 2010 and 2012. After graduating with distinction at the Junior Conservatory in Zaragoza in 2015, she moved to London in 2017 to further her studies at the Junior Guildhall School with Anna-Liisa Bezrodny. In 2018, she was awarded the Lutine Prize, as a result of which she appeared in Milton Court Concert Hall as a soloist with the Junior Guildhall Symphony Orchestra.
Sofía plays on a William H Luff violin from 1955 kindly on loan from the Royal College of Music.
