Marta Aurēlija Rando

Marta was born in 2001 in Latvia and comes from a musical family. At the age of 5, Marta started learning the violin at the PIKC NMV Emils Darzins Music School. In 2019, she became an early student of the pre-college department of the University of Music and Performing Arts Munich and entered the violin class of Prof. Markus Wolf. From 2020 she continues her studies with him in the bachelor's program.

Marta is a laureate of several competitions: in 2016 she obtained 3-rd place at “IV International Viktor Radovich competition” in Lithuania. In 2017 she obtained a 1-st place at “Baltic International young musician competition” and 2-nd place at “Augusts Dombrovskis 9 th international competition”. In 2018 she obtained a 1-st place at “Latvian professional and secondary education institution training program – String instruments” state competition.

She has participated in master classes by Rollo Kovac, Laurent A. Breuninger, Sergei Dogadin, Ingolf
Turban, Stephan Picard, Alexander Sitkovetsky, Vadim Gluzman and others.

In 2019, Marta gave a solo concert for the first time.

As a chamber musician, in 2019 and 2020, she participated in the International Chamber Ensemble Festival “In Corpore” in Tallinn, Estonia, as a member of the piano trio. In 2019, Marta, as a member of the piano trio, won the 1st place in the International Chamber Ensemble Competition in Vilnius, Lithuania.

In 2018, at the Latvian National Opera, Marta participated in the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra's international project “Side by Side”, in which she had the opportunity to play with RCO musicians in a joint orchestra, performing Carl Maria von Weber's overture "Oberon", conducted by Philip Herreweghe. In 2018 and 2019, Marta played in the Latvia's Centenary Youth Symphony Orchestra,
established in honor of the centenary of Latvian state. Since 2019, Marta has been a musician in the Baltic Sea Philharmonic Orchestra, which performed at the Elba Philharmonic on 2020, together with the famous British pop group “Bastille” and conductor Kristjan Järvi, at an event organized by the “Channel Aid” charity. She joined the European Union Youth Orchestra in September 2021 at Ferrara Autumn Residency.

In 2019, Marta received a scholarship from The Arkady Fomin Scholarship Fund.
