Barnabás Vértesi

Balint was born in 1999 in Debrecen, Hungary, he received his first bassoon lesson at the age of 11.
Since 2017 he has been studying bassoon at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna, first with Stepan Turnovsky and since 2019 with Richard Galler. In October 2021 he completed his bachelor's degree with distinction. At the university he focuses on historical performance practice, regularly receives baroque bassoon and recently dulcian lessons from Robert Gillinger and Christine Gniglers.
He has attended masterclasses with Christian Beuse, Sophie Dervaux, Dag Jensen, Stepan Turnovsky, Michael Werba, Benedikt Dinkhauser, Gyorgy Lakatos.
He plays regularly with professional orchestras such as the Tonkünstler Orchestra, Vienna Symphony Orchestra (Wiener Symphoniker), Carinthian Symphony Orchestra (Kärntner Sinfonieorchester) Klagenfurt, Staatstheater Baden, Wiener KammerOrchester, Synchron Stage Vienna.
He has worked with conductors and musicians like Cristian Macelaru, Yutaka Sado, Andrés Orozco-Estrada,Tamás Vásáry, Ton Koopman, Lorenzo Viotti and Péter Eötvös, Wenzel Fuchs, Hansjörg Schellenberger, Emmanuel Tjeknavorian.
He was a member of the Angelika Prokopp Summer Academy of the Vienna Philharmonic, Encuentro de música y academia de santander, Sommerakademie für Alte Musik in Neuburg an der Donau, Collegium Musicum-Schloss Pommersfelden and Young Musicians‘ Summer Academy (Debrecen).
Balint is first prize winner of the 14. National Bassoon Competition for Conservatories (Hungary),
2nd prize winner of the 8. National Chambermusic Competition for Conservatories (Hungary).
He won the „Best performance” prize of the Sugar Rezső National Composition Compatition 2016 (Hungary). He took part at the 15. International Aeolus Compatition 2021 and at the prague Spring International Compatition 2022.
