Tobias Reikow, born in 2002 in Stuttgart, Germany, grew up as the son of a cellist and a bassoonist. As a nine-year-old boy he discovered his passion for bass instruments, as did his parents, and started playing the bassoon as well. Initially, he took lessons from Prof. Ulrich Hermann, with whom he began his junior studies at the Hochschule für Musik of the Johannes-Gutenberg-Universität Mainz in 2018. Since 2020 he has been studying at the Hochschule für Musik Detmold with Prof. Tobias Pelkner. Valuable impulses he received from master classes given by Stefan Schweigert and Prof. Christian Kunert, among others.
Tobias Reikow won scholarships from various foundations like the Deutsche Stiftung Musikleben or the Hummel-Gesellschaft Weimar and is currently holder of a soloist scholarship at the Mozart-Gesellschaft Dortmund. The young bassoonist is the winner of numerous awards, most recently the sponsorship award of the WILO Foundation in the category of bassoon.
As a member of the National Youth Orchestra of Germany between 2018 and 2020, Tobias Reikow performed under renowned conductors, such as Kirill Petrenko, Sir Simon Rattle, Ingo Metzmacher or Lothar Zagrosek.
His debut as a soloist he made with the Amadeus Chamber Orchestra of the Polish Radio at the Konzerthaus Dortmund in 2021.
Tobias is a member of the wind quintet Ensemble Quinton, with which he is also sponsored by the Mozart-Gesellschaft Dortmund.
