Renata Cardoso
Renata Cardoso is a native of Coimbra, Portugal. She received her bachelor’s degree from the Escola Superior de Música in Lisbon, Portugal where she studied with professors Dr. David Burt and Stephen Mason.
While a student, Renata participated in masterclasses and lessons with Esteban Batallán, Gábor Tarkövi, Frits Damrow, Paul Merkelo, Andrew McCandless, Pacho Flores, Barbara Butler, Clement Saunier, John Miller and John Wallace.
In 2019 Renata won the principal trumpet position with the Gulbenkian Orchestral Summer Institute and was a reserve member of the Mediterranean Youth Orchestra. In 2021 she won the first prize of the W.T.S. Daniel Patrylak Memorial Performance Competition (undergraduate), USA. In 2022 Renata joined the European Union Youth Orchestra and was designated as an alternate for the Music Academy of the West in Santa Barbara, California.
Renata has performed with the Gulbenkian Orchestra, the Cascais and Oeiras Chamber Orchestra, and she was a member of the Lusitanus Ensemble.
Renata is currently pursuing her master's degree in trumpet performance at Rice University’s Shepherd School of Music in Houston, Texas where she studies with Professors Barbara Butler and Charles Geyer.
