Tomás Soares Ferreira
Tomás was born in Loures (Lisbon, Portugal) in 2000 and began playing the trombone at the age of 11. In 2014, he started his professional high school of music in Escola professional Metropolitana with Reinaldo Guerreiro. During those years, he got the chance to play in the school orchestras and in the Portuguese Youth Orchestra (JOP). In his final year he also performed as a soloist with the school orchestra (Orquestra Clássica da Metropolitana) after he won an internal competition. In 2018, he started his bachelor degree at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam where he currently studies with Jorgen van Rijen, Pierre Volders and Remko de Jager.
He has collaborated with numerous orchestras such as the Radio Philarmonisch Orkest, Royal Concertgebouw Orkest, Rotterdams Philharmonisch Orkest, Balletorkest and the Portuguese chamber orchestra. Tomás also collaborated with some ensembles such as the New Trombone Collective and the Studio MusikFabrik.
He participated in masterclasses and private lessons with Joseph Alessi, Ian Bousfield, Brandt Attema, James Markey, Enzo Turriziani, Daniele Morandini, Nico Schippers, Tomer Maschkowski, Jonas Bylund, Stefan Schulz, Thomas Leyendecker and Filipe Alves.
