Martti Genevet
Martti Genevet (2005) started playing the double bass in 2011 at the Helsinki Conservatory under the guidance of Taru Tiusanen. In 2021 he was admitted at the Sibelius Academy Youth Department to study with Lecturer of double bass Lasse Lagercrantz.
Martti has performed with many different ensembles both in his home country of Finland and in several other internationally renowned concert venues like the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg and the Gothenburg Concert Hall. He has gained orchestra experience from RCO YOUNG 2022, Orkester Norden 2022, the Sibelius Academy Symphony Orchestra, the Vivo Symphony Orchestra, Helsinki Concordia and the University of Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra. In 2021 Martti won the third prize in the high school series of the Finnish National Youth Double Bass Competition. He has taken part in masterclasses with Janne Saksala and Dan Styffe and has had lessons with Maria Krykov and Léo Genet. In addition to Finnish, Martti is fortunate to speak French as his second mother tongue and in his free time enjoys playing jazz and chamber music with friends, swimming, windsurfing, reading and recently took up photography.
