Maite Mellino was born in 2002 in Vico Equense, Napoli, Italy, started playing doublebass at the age of seven.
She studied from 2010 until 2020 with Francisco Lluc Murillo in the ´Conservatorio José Iturbi´in Valencia, Spain.
She is currently studying her bachelor´s degree in the class of Prof. Alexandra Scott at the University of Music and Performing Arts Munich.
Maite is a first prize winner in the junior category at the Galicia Graves Competition, Culleredo 2017, Spain and 2nd prize at the Youth Competition Bass Europe 2018 in Lucca, Italy.
In August 2019 she took part in the Royal Concertgebouw Youth Orchestra in Eden, Netherlands for three weeks.
She had orchestral experience oportunitied such as a temporary assistant with the Munich Symphony Orchestra, Cappella Aquileia and the Munich Chamber Opera.
She attended masterclasses with Dorin Marc, Edicson Ruiz, Matthew McDonald, Antonio Garcia Araque, Slawomir Grenda, Alberto Bocini und Gabriele Ragghianti.
