Matilda Sacco
Matilda Sacco was born in 2001 in Edinburgh, UK, to Italian parents. She began playing the violin at the age of 7 and attended St Mary’s Music School where she studied with Andrea Gajic. In her formative years she won several prizes at the Edinburgh Competition Festival and also toured with the National Children’s Orchestra, the National Youth Orchestra of Scotland Symphony and the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain. She is currently in the final year of her Bachelor studies at the Royal College of Music in London, where she is learning with Radu Blidar. Here she has had the chance to work with great conductors such as Kevin John Edousei, Sakari Oramo, Jac van Steen, Rafael Payare, and also explore different genres such as Baroque, Film Music, Opera and Contemporary. She regularly performs around London with her new music ensemble, Standard Issue, and enjoys involvement in music education projects, either in workshops or schools.
More recently she participated in the Berlin Opera Academy and was a member of the Verbier Junior Festival Orchestra in 2021. She has had masterclasses from Alissa Margulis, Eszter Haffner, Nicola Benedetti, Leland Chen and the Fitzwilliam Quartet. From 2023 she is a member of EUYO.
