David Tobin has performed as a soloist with many orchestras in Ireland and internationally, including the RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra, National Youth Orchestra of Ireland, Sinfonieorchester Aachen, Kourion Orchester Münster, Poltava Symphony Orchestra and with the New York Concerti Sinfonietta in Carnegie Hall, where "he played with impeccable intonation and abundant virtuosity" (Epoch Times).
He is currently undertaking his Solo Master's degree in the Universität der Künste Berlin with Prof. Latica Honda Rosenberg. He already completed his Bachelor and Master's degrees in Cologne with the highest marks, studying with Michael Vaiman and Barnabas Kelemen. David is also the most successful string player in Feis Ceoil, Ireland's premier national competition, having won all junior and senior competitions. He was a prizewinner in international competitions in Romania, Estonia, France and Ukraine. He has also been the recipient of many bursaries such as the National Concert Hall Young Musician Award, RTÉ Lyric FM Award and Alan Gillespie Ulster Bank Award.
He gives solo recitals annually in the National Concert Hall in Dublin and has appeared as a soloist on both Irish radio and television. David has collaborated in chamber performances with great musicians such as Barnabas Kelemen, Maxim Rysanov and Kian Soltani and is a member of Trio Zilia and the Kahlo Piano Quartet. He has worked with conductors Daniel Barenboim, Marin Alsop, Vasily Petrenko and John Wilson while playing with the European Union Youth Orchestra, West-Eastern Divan Orchestra and John Wilson Orchestra. He has performed at prestigious events such as Salzburg Festival, Lucerne Festival and the BBC Proms.
