Chris is a post graduate scholar at the Royal Academy of Music in London, studying trombone with Matt Gee, Ian Bousfield and Peter Moore and euphonium/bass trumpet with James Maynard.

Chris has extensive orchestral experience and has performed under the batons of maestros including Edward Gardner, John Wilson, Vasily Petrenko, Nicholas Collon, Kristjan Järvi, Sir Mark Elder, and François-Xavier Roth. This includes as principal trombone of the RAM symphony orchestra, five BBC Proms and multiple live radio broadcasts with the National Youth Orchestra GB, and recording Holst’s The Planets and Strauss’ Also Sprach Zarathustra under Edward Gardner for Chandos Records. He has been a member of the EUYO since 2019, and has toured across Europe and Oman.

As a keen chamber musician, Chris is a founder member of both Connaught Brass (Quintet) and Bone-afide (Trombone Quartet). Collectively, the groups have gained 1st Prize at the Philip Jones International Brass Ensemble Competition 2019, International Trombone Association Quartet Competition 2020, Worshipful Company of Musicians Brass Ensemble Prize 2018, and both the Tillett and Tunnell Trust’s Debut Schemes (2020 and 2021).

As well as being a versatile performer, Chris also enjoys teaching and undertaking outreach work supported by the Worshipful Company of Musicians. He looks forward to a busy forthcoming season performing across the UK and Europe, including at the Wigmore Hall and the Lucerne Festival.
