Josef Hundsbichler

Born in 1996 in Vienna, Josef started playing the violin at the age of 6, before he switched to the viola in 2008. Since 2016 he is studying at MUK Vienna, currently with Mario Gheorghiu. Further artistic impulses he got from Avri Levitan, Gunther Teuffel, Thomas Riebl, Jennifer Stumm, Lars Anders Tomter, Gertrud Weinmeister and Axel Kircher.
As a member of the Hamamelis Quartet he was prize winner at the Fidelio-chambermusic-competition in Vienna, which was followed by concerts in Wiener Konzerthaus, Wiener Radiokulturhaus, a tour through Austria, among others. As a chamber musician Josef was invited to international chamber music festivals as Musethica Festivals or ClasClas Festival (with renowned Violists as Amihai Grosz, Avri Levitan or Maxim Rysanov). Chambermusic perfomances led him to Wiener Musikverein, through Europe and also to America.
As a member of the EUYO Josef is playing in europeans most prestigious concert halls, as Concertgebouw Amsterdam, Elbphilharmonie Hamburg or Wiener Musikverein. Furthermore he is internationally performing as principal violist with the Gustav Mahler Jugendorchester, Wiener Jeunesse Orchestra (National Youth Orchestra of Austria), the Macao Youth Symphony Orchestra, the MUK-Symphony-Orchestra among others.
