Dámaso Escauriaza Martinez-Peñuela

Dámaso Escauriaza Martinez - Peñuela (1998), a native of Pamplona, Spain, grew up surrounded by instruments in a very musical family and so he developed a great musical sensitivity.

He started playing Percussion when he was 6 and at the age of 17 he moved to Amsterdam were he studied the Bachelor in Classical Percussion at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam with Professors Nick Woud, Mark Brafhaart, Bence Major, Peter Prommel and Rachel Xi Zhang.
During his Bachelor studies, Dámaso was academist with the Antwerp Symphony Orchestra (Belgium) and currently studies the Orchestral Master in Amsterdam, he is also in a member of the European Union Youth Orchestra (EUYO) and freelances with orchestras an ensembles like the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, Antwerp Symphony Orchestra, Insomnio Ensemble and Orquesta Sinfónica de Navarra under the baton of conductors such as Daniel Harding, Alan Gilbert, Pablo Heras-Casado, Eliahu Inbal or Gianandrea Noseda.

As a chamber musician, he plays with his percussion duo “Chops Duo”, performing recitals and concerts with orchestras in Spain, the Netherlands and England together with the British percussionist, Tom Pritchard.

Dámaso, holds a Scholarship granted by the Government of Navarra.
