Portuguese harpist, Beatriz Cortesão was born in Coimbra and began her harp studies at the age of 7. Thanks to her virtuoso skills, talent and unique personality this young musician has attracted the attention of professionals and public across Europe. Among her credits are: the selection as harpist of the European Union Youth Orchestra in 2020 and 2021; collaboration with the Gulbenkian Orchestra;
harp recitals in Portugal (Lisbon, Coimbra) and Italy (Milan); performance of the Concerto for Harp and Orchestra, Op. 74 of R. Gliere with Orquestra Clássica do Centro (under José Eduardo Gomes) and Orquestra Filarmonia das Beiras (under António Vassalo Lourenço).
Beatriz Cortesão is the prize winner of several international harp competitions: the IV Moscow Open Youth Competition Mark Rubin (Russia), XXVII Concorso Riviera della Versilia “D. Ridolfi” (Italy), III and IV Concurso de Harpa de Linda-a-Velha (Portugal), among others.
Beatriz studies the harp since her childhood under the watchfull eyes of Beatrix Schmidt and Erica Versace, followed by a personality shaping experience at the international harp academy HarpMasters, in Switzerland. Currently, Beatriz is a Master student in the class of Irina Zingg, at the Civica Scuola di Musica Claudio Abbado, in Milan.
