Domen Koren is a Slovenian saxophonist, currently pursuing a specialist degree at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels in the class of prof. Vincent David.
During the course of his studies at the Academy of music in Ljubljana he had improved his knowledge at the Sibelius Academy of Music in Helsinki with prof. Joonatan Rautiola, Conservatorio Superior de Música de Castilla-La Mancha with prof. Antonio Felipe Belijar and at the Conservatorio Superior de Música de Aragón with prof. Mariano García.
Domen won several first prizes in national and international competitions as a soloist and as a chamber musician and was awarded the prestigious »Prešeren´s award« of Academy of Music Ljubljana for an outstanding performance with the Slovenian Philharmonic orchestra. He performed multiple times as a soloist with the Slovenian Philharmonic orchestra, the RTV Slovenia Symphony Orchestra, the Wind orchestra of the Conservatory of music of Ljubljana, the Chamber string orchestra of Academy of Music Ljubljana and the chamber orchestra of Gran Canaria.
In addition of being active as a soloist and ensemble musician, Domen regularly plays in professional orchestras such as the Slovenian Philharmonic Orchestra, SNG Opera and Ballet orchestra Ljubljana, the RTV Slovenia Symphony Orchestra, Orchestra of Slovenian Army and the Slovenian Police orchestra.
He was also a member of Gustav Mahler Jugendorchester (GMJO), the European Union Youth Orchestra (EUYO) and Schleswig-Holstein Festival Orchestra (SHFO) multiple times.
He actively cooperates with a young generation of composers and as a result premiered over 10 pieces dedicated to him.
As a member of the artistic board in the cultural society Sekvoja, he is both a part of the organization team and teaching staff at the international festivals and masterclasses.
