Peace in Europe Project 2022

Standing with Ukraine

As cultural ambassador for the EU, the Orchestra plays a key role in promoting peace in Europe. Our young musicians from all 27 EU Member States working together embody the EU principle of Unity in Diversity, and offer tangible evidence that the best hope for harmony in Europe is through promoting youth, culture and co-operation.

As part of this role, and at one of the most challenging moments for Europe in many decades, The Orchestra launched a PEACE IN EUROPE project with a series of concerts throughout 2022 in countries across Europe from the Baltic to the Mediterranean and the East of Europe to the North Sea, all dedicated to the cause of peace in Europe and to highlighting the plight of victims of violence.

As part of this project the EUYO is currently assisting the Youth Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine (YsOU) in a project  to enable these players to continue their work by helping raise funds, by opening projects such as the EUYO's new online learning programme to them, and by offering side by side performance possibilities between YsOU and the EUYO into the future.

The Slovenian Youth Orchestra (SYO) has established itself as the key helper of YsOU at the moment, having set up a Music Camp in Ljubljana, where Ukrainian musicians and their families can escape the terror of war and be offered accommodation, with space for musical practice, and follow-up assistance in case of an extended stay. If you wish to help the YsOU, you can make a donation here
