12 November 2016 - Gothenburg: Huge success for the Orchestra's debut in Gothenburg.
This concert in the beautiful unique Gothenburg Koncerthuset, on 12 November 2016, was conducted by EUYO Chief Conductor Vasily Petrenko, and featured Mahler's first symphony, together with Haydn's Sinfonia Concertante with soloists from the Orchestra. Full details Here.
In the event, there were standing ovations aplenty; stunning playing from soloists violinist Emily Davis, 'cellist Klara Wincor, oboist Antonio Juárez and bassoonist Nikolaj Henriques; a profound speech by EUYO players about #culturenowmorethanever (thank you and well done Alma and Andrew!), and 2 encores, including a surprise: Swedish folk music played by young Swedish 'fiddlers' and the EUYO. The obligatory post concert jam session was provided by three of our multi talented and ever smile-inducing Romanians. All in all a reaffirming experience just when the world needs it!
