25 March 2017 - On the 60th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty of Rome, in the beautiful setting of Villa Medici, the EUYO performed Spirit of Europe; a repertoire of music from across Europe to celebrate 60 years of unity, peace and cultural integration.
Leading members of the Italian and European cultural scene presented their testimony on the achievements of the Treaty throughout the years.
The event was organised by the Directorate General of the European Commission for telecommunications, content and technology (DG CONNECT), the Representation of the European Commission in Rome, and the Embassy of Malta in Italy.
With repertoire from the Atlantic to the Black Sea, from the Baltic to the Mediterranean, the programme celebrated half a millennium of Europe's Spirit in music from Austria, Estonia, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Poland, Romania and Spain.
