The EUYO was honoured to be invited by DG GROW, the Directorate-General for Internal Market, Industry, Entrepreneurship and SMEs of the European Commission, and the Delegation of the European Union Delegation to China, to perform as part of the climax of the EU-China Tourism Year Closing Ceremony in the ancient Chinese Imperial Capital city of Xi'an.
The performance was curated in partnership with the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the People's Republic of China, with rehearsals at the Shanxi Grand Opera House and a performance at the UNESCO World Heritage Site the Xi'an South Gate, one of the oldest, largest and most well preserved city walls in the world.
The EUYO performance by the Brass and Percussion Ensemble of the Orchestra was preceded by a welcoming performance of actors, dancers and music from the City of Xi'an, and a 3D video portrait of Europe by NuFormer, who also produced a real time video wall of images to music.
