EXPERIENCE EUROPE

5-13 JULY 2018

SHANGHAI, CHINA

From 5-13 July, a chamber group of EUYO musicians performed in Shanghai for the second Orchestra Exchange Programme of the 2.5-year Experience Europe programme sponsored by the EU Delegation to China. The aim of the Exchange Programme is to foster understanding between China and the EU.

The project involved EUYO musicians performing side by side with members of the EUYO’s Global Exchange Partner, Shanghai Orchestra Academy, as part of a Culture Exchange Week in the 9th MISA Festival. The 13 travelling EUYO members rehearsed and performed alongside the young musicians from the Shanghai Orchestra Academy, under director and EUYO alumnus Sarah Sew. It was an exciting opportunity to bring together musicians from different cultures to learn and exchange different approaches to performance, form musical friendships, and deepen understanding across continents. The 2018 Exchange Programme culminated in two performances on 11th July and 12th July, at Shanghai Urban Music Lawn and the Shanghai Symphony Chamber Hall.
