Europe Meets Myanmar

Friday 10 May 2019, 7:00 pm
Strand Hotel ballroom, Yangon, Myanmar

In occasion of the Europe Day celebrations, the EUYO has been invited in the Far East by the Delegation of the European Union to Myanmar. A quintet of EUYO alumni, as part of their teaching programme, will visit the country and play with the Orchestra for Myanmar, the New Children's Choir and the Singers from Mr Roger's Orphanage, Kachin Baptist Church, and ISY as well as with The Strand Singers.

"On 9 May every year, we commemorate Schuman Declaration that set Europe on a path towards political cooperation and lasting peace. The European Union Youth Orchestra, a symphony orchestra with members drawn from each of the European Union's 28 Member States, is a beautiful expression of those foundations laid almost 70 years ago. It is therefore a great pleasure for the EU Delegation to Myanmar to bring you these fine alumni musicians, whose performance together with the Orchestra for Myanmar, New Children's Choir and the Strand Singers is a celebration of diversity and the universal expression of humanity through music."
