The EUYO’s planned 2020 Spring residency in its home city of Ferrara and Spring concert tour of Italy and Austria were cancelled last week as a result of the COVID-19 epidemic. They are now replaced at one week’s notice by a 23 day online residency during March and April, and the launch of a new EUYO Digital programme.
The Digital Residency will include workshops and lessons with 12 world class tutors, conductors Vasily Petrenko and Iván Fischer, and musicians including Rehearsal Director Peter Stark and acclaimed writer, music journalist and television and radio presenter Tom Service.
There will be online meetings for 150 participants, performance practice music labs using a model developed with the Orchestra’s summer home and principal venue partner Grafenegg, Well-Being sessions, and online performances.
To support this work a new EUYO Digital Space has been developed with website designers Outlandish.
The Orchestra also plans a webcast to the city of Ferrara in appreciation of Ferrara’s generous support for the EUYO and in recognition of the huge challenges being experienced in its home city in North Italy.
