Introducing an EUYO ‘first timers’ concert series for informal and young audiences new to classical music

More than 80 EUYO musicians came together for their long awaited Ferrara Musica symphonic residency, rehearsing and performing in Ferrara from 8 to 22 September, in events including an outdoor concert as part of the InternoVerde Festival and 4 concerts at the Teatro Comunale di Ferrara. Two of the Orchestra’s concerts premiered Music Minus the Rules!a new series with the EUYO in a relaxed and informal mode playing excerpts from a variety of music, with a special presenter as a guide to explain what is happening onstage, and a chance for the audience to ask questions and hear from the players and conductor. If you have never tried a live performance of classical music before, this is the perfect way to begin.

A brass quintet of EUYO musicians lightened the mood of tourists and Ferrarese citizens alike with informal music, as they visited one of the normally inaccessible private gardens opened up by the InternoVerdeFestival.

Music minus the rules - Exploded Orchestra!

Presented by Ambra Bianchi from the Associazione Musicisti di Ferrara with conductor Peter Stark and the musicians of the EUYO. This concert showed what an orchestra really gets up to when rehearsing, let the audience hear from the musicians, see what happens when different ideas are tried in a rehearsal, and even allowed the audience to make their own suggestions about how the music should go. It also featured short excerpt performances from a variety of music.
