Summer Tour, ’24!

2024 Summer Tour

The whirlwind of the summer tour has passed – but not subsided; we’ll still be on a high for many weeks to come. We travelled from Grafenegg to Carnegie Hall, returned to the Lucerne and Edinburgh Festivals, conducted no less than our 41st residency at Bolzano Festival Bozen, and celebrated 25 years of Young Euro Classic. It was our first project with Iván Fischer in his new capacity as our Music Director; Gianandrea Noseda returned for his 6th season conducting our Orchestra.

Our tour repertoire comprised some twenty-five pieces, from Schoenberg’s extraordinary Verklärte Nacht, to Mahler’s Symphony No. 1. Everything we played had been conceived with the nature of our Orchestra, its people, and the places in which we were to perform, in mind. Always, throughout music history, composers, artists, instrument makers, and institutions have intertwined and influenced each other, their work holding up a mirror to their environments, relationships, and times.

Our symphony concerts are spectacular on-tour occasions, but far from the only events. Our tour schedule is a document of some 15,000 words (known behind the scenes as ‘The Bible’), packed with chamber music concerts, late-night sessions, broadcasts, interviews, TV appearances, side-by-side events, MusicLabs, pilates and mental health coaching sessions…the chance to attend the concerts of others, to explore the cities we’re visiting, to see and make friends. Get a good overview from our online tour brochure; you can also follow what happened in real time on our social media channels: Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, X, and our nearly-new TikTok.
